Purchase and sale of lots

1. Any person purchasing a lot or portion of a lot must pay in cash the full amount of the price.

2. Perpetual care must be paid in full before a grave can be opened.

3. Any person who furnishes a false statement as to their status of being a resident or non- resident shall be liable to Breitung Township.

4. All burials shall be made with a concrete box or vault with the exception of stillborn or infant.

 

Cemetery rules and regulations

1. No lot owner shall plant any shrubbery, trees or plants that spread, such as lilacs, rosebushes, irises, etc. on any lot.

2. No lot owner shall plant any trees, plants or shrubbery on any lot unless first getting permission from the sexton.

3. Any lot owner planting shrubbery, flowers or plants shall be responsible for the care of said shrubbery, flowers or plants.

4. No lot owner shall plant shrubbery, trees or flowers on any lot in any manner so as to make a hindrance to the cutting of grass, maintenance, etc.

5. The number of shrubs, plants, etc. shall be limited at the discretion of the sexton.

6. Artificial flowers, planters and wreaths shall be removed in the fall by October 15; and grave blankets by April 1.

7. No dogs or other pets shall be allowed in the cemetery.

8. Monuments shall be erected in orderly rows, facing east and west respectively.

9. All above-ground monuments must have a concrete base poured flush with the existing ground equal to the base size of the monument.

10. All flat monuments (i.e. foot-stone, military markers, etc.) shall be installed flush with the ground.

11. Guard rails and fences of any kind are not allowed on any lot in the cemetery.

12. Grass guards, if used, must be flush with the ground. They can only be installed in front of the monument, not more than one foot from the base of the monument.

13. All digging and burials shall be made by the sexton or his designee.

14. Cemetery markers: 1 position – flush with the ground 2 positions – one upright, the rest flush with the ground 4 positions – two upright, the rest flush with the ground 8 positions – four upright, the rest flush with the ground *Exception – Block 9 where ALL stones MUST be flush with the ground. This shall cover all monument and stone placement from the date adopted by the Township Board (07-10-89).

15. The installing of curbing around lots, and the placement of structures or items on the lots is prohibited, except where specifically provided for.

16. Anyone wishing to make any changes to lots must first see the sexton.

17. Anyone cleaning up lots are asked to leave the rubbish in a pile for pickup.

18. No trees or shrubbery may be removed from any lot without first obtaining permission from the sexton.

19. Decorative rocks or stones, or any item which may be caught up, thrown by or inhibit the mowing of grass, are not allowed.

20. Lot owners who fertilize, seed or water their lots causing the grass to grow faster than surrounding lots will be responsible for the extra mowing of their lots.

21. Two hanging planters are permitted for each upright monument. The post shall be placed adjacent to the monument base and baskets shall be at least 24 inches above the ground.
