Chlorination in Quinnesec Water
As a precautionary measure, Breitung Township water department has added a small amount of chlorine to its Quinnesec water system. Recent routine monitoring tests for coliform bacteria were positive. Coliform bacteria is common in the environment and is not harmful in itself. We will be adding 1 ppm (part per million) of chlorine to the system. The water IS safe to drink. Chlorination and water testing will continue for at least 3 weeks. Chlorination started on August 15.
